During a trip to France, we found a few great 1st century drachma coins, both from the Gaul region. The one coin hails from the Massalia area (now Marseilles) of France. The face is the image of a lion & the reverse side, the eroded remains of the head of Artemis. The 2nd drachma is from the 'Volques Tectosages' or Toulouse area of France. The face of the coin just has partial imagery while the reverse has 4 'rays' representing 4 cantons or tribes. Cast in sterling silver that we've aged to replicate the aging on the originals. The necklace consists of 8 coins (4 each) & measures 38" (95 cm). Coins measure approximately 1/2" (1.3 cm).
