Coral Compass Earrings

Recently we discovered the work of Ernst Haeckel, a man of all trades; from marine biologist to illustrator.  We've etched our Coral Compass image from a Haeckel illustration of the Stephanophyllia elegans coral, which we loved for its symmetry and intricacies.  

The pattern also reminded us of old nautical compasses...how appropriate for an undersea plant.

There sterling silver circle earrings measures 7/16" (1 cm) round.  We've aged the silver to bring out the graphic coral pattern.
